This system can seem overwhelming until you get the hang of it. There are examples in here to better explain each portion. If you have any questions after reading this feel free to post on the forums.

Visit the EPGP website for additional information about the EPGP system: What is EPGP?

HIGHLIGHTS AND OVERVIEW OF EPGP

A. Definition:
EPGP stands for an Event Points/Gear Points system. Our EPGP has three aspects to it. Each aspect will be explained in further details below.

» Event Points (EP) and Gear Points (GP) are awarded to raid members during a raid.
» Priority Rating (PR) is used to determine who gets loot and is based on the following formula: PR = EP / GP
» Decay and Penalty systems which affect your EP earned.

B. Abbreviations:
EP = Event Points (Awarded for Participation, sometimes called Effort Points)
GP = Gear Points (Loot Value)
PR = Priority Rating (Number used to determine who gets Loot)

EVENT POINTS (EP) AND GEAR POINTS (GP)

A. Event Points:
Your EP will continue to build as you raid more and more with the guild. Being ready to raid at the start time will earn you 50 EP. Being in the raid from start to finish will also earn you 50 EP. There will be no partial credit for attendance. Your EP goes down through being Penalized (see below) and through Decay (see below).

Event points are currently accumulated for the following:

» Showing up to a raid on time
» Staying to the end of the raid
    » Boss attempts/Boss kills

For Example:
Person A is ready for the Gruul raid, is fully repaired, has his/her needed reagents and is at the instance or is ready to be summoned. Person A is awarded 50 EP for being ready on time. Person A then participates in killing High King Mulgar (150 EP) and Gruul the Dragon killer (300 EP). The total EP for all bosses is 450. Person A stays for the full length of the raid and is awarded another 50 EP. Person A has accumulated a total of (50 + 450 + 50) = 550 EP.

B. Gear Points:
Gear Points are awarded for each item you receive based on its quality and level. Each item already has a set GP in the game. Your GP number will continuously go up as you accrue gear. GP will also be affected by Decay (see below), but not by Penalties.

For Example:
The item King's Defender is worth 128 GP. Person A from the example above has 550 EP. Their Priority Rating (PR) would be (550 / 128) = 4.30%

If you want to understand more about how GP is configured for items you can check out the following websites: What is EPGP? and WoWhead. WoWhead will give you the item level for any drop in the game. Take that item level and compute the calculations towards the bottom of the EPGP website. During a raid this will be done by the DKP Leader and is not something that needs to be worried about calculating. When loot is being decided on the DKP Leader will announce the GP value of each item.

LOOT PRIORITY & PRIORITY RATING (PR)

A. Overall Practice:
Loot Priority Rating (PR) is determined by dividing EP by GP. PR = EP/GP. This is the number that will determine who gets an item for loot when multiple people are interested in an item. Since this system is a relational one, based on your EP (Participation) and GP (Gear awarded) combined, it is actually easy for new people coming in to get gear after meeting the minimum requirements (see below).

For Example:

EP

GP

PR

Person C

200

100

2

Person D

100

1

100

So in this example Person C and Person D want the same item, Gloves of the Fallen Defender. Person C has a PR of 2: (200 / 100) = 2. Person D has a PR of 100: (100 / 1) = 100. Person D would get the item over Person C.

With this example you can see that the system is designed to reward people who participate more and have less gear. The higher a person's EP, the more they participate. The lower a person's GP, the less gear they have. New people who come in will soon be at an advantage since they will not have accrued any gear raiding, after meeting the minimum EP requirements (see below).

REQUESTING GEAR DURING RAIDS

A. Gear vs. Class/Spec
It is expected that all members of the raid will pass gear to a class that the gear is better suited for. Melee DPS gear is not a priority for protection warriors so that gear should be passed to Rogues and DPS warriors. If no one that the gear is better suited for actually needs it will be open to anyone.

B. Submitting a request
If you are interested in an item and the item is suited for your class then send the DKP leader a tell of "Primary" during the loot distribution. If you are interested in an item that is not designed for your class or if you don't have a pressing need for it but could be interested in it then you can send the DKP leader a tell of "Secondary."

C. Minimum EP Required
New raid members are required to have a minimum of 3 raids and at least 1,000 EP before they can request items. If no one is interested in an item then it may go to someone to be disenchanted.

DECAY AND PENALTY SYSTEM

A. Decay
Once a week all members will undergo a 10% EPGP reduction due to decay. This is done to combat the practice of hoarding, but it can also reward attendance at the same time.

For Example:
If you attend a raid just after decay and earn EP during the run, but you don't purchase anything, your PR will have increased by a larger margin due to the decay to your GP.

With/Without Example:

(Without Decay)

Before the run you had 2000 EP and 1000 GP which resulted in a PR value of 2. You attend a raid and earn 500 EP but did not buy anything. Therefore you end up with 2500 EP and 1000 GP resulting in a PR value of 2.5

(With Decay)

Before the run you had 2000 EP and 1000 GP which resulted in a PR value of 2. The Raid Leader runs the weekly decay resulting in new values of 1800 EP and 900 GP but still a PR value of 2. You attend a raid and earn 500 EP but did not buy anything. Therefore you end up with 2300 EP and 800 GP resulting in a PR value of 2.6

However, if you don't show up, decay will drop your priority, and it could also drop you below the minimum EP Threshold required to bid.

B. Penalty System
The Penalty System is designed to penalize members for unacceptable behavior. The following penalties will be enforced by the Raid Leader:

» EP penalty for signing up for a raid but not showing up. This penalty will not be enforced if you notify the raid leader 24 hours in advance or find a suitable replacement for     your class function. The penalty is -1000 EP
» If you leave during a Raid for any reason other than an unavoidable problem you will suffer -500 EP.
» If you go AFK for a long period of time (more than 10 minutes) without letting the raid leader know you will suffer -300 EP.

PROGRESSION

A. Boss attempts
If a boss is killed then everyone will get the full value of that bosses EP. There is no stacking of EP earned from attempting and killing. For guild first boss kills, please see reference B. First Kills for the Guild.

For Example:
If High King Maulgar yields 150 EP and Future goes into Gruul's Lair and makes 4 attempts on him but does not kill him then everyone in the raid will earn 113 EP:

25% of 150 EP = 37.5 EP
37.5 EP for each attempt, maxing at 3 attempts = 112.5 EP rounded up to 113 EP.

If the raid ends up killing him then everyone will get the full 150 EP, no more and no less.

B. First Kills for the Guild
Any boss that the raid encounters which has not been downed before and do not kill will receive 25% of the bosses EP value per attempt. This will max out at 3 attempts for a total of 75%. Any boss that is a first time kill for the Guild will earn everyone in the raid 150% of the EP value.

For Example:
If High King Maulgar yields 150 EP and Future goes into Gruul's Lair and kills him for the first time (even if others in the guild have killed him before) then everyone in that raid will get 225 EP. From that point on High King Maulgar will only yield 150 EP.
